This is one of the dirtiest and rawest bands I ever had the chance to find out in the last period! So to celebrate the release of their spilt with the Italian Compañeros Long Dong Silver, recently released under Scarey Records, I called my favourite rock girl, my sweetie Margie Realmonte, (a.k.a. Velvetdaisy) to make her submitting a bunch of questions to these drunk and very irreverent guys, represented by Seth, leader of this Canadian band! So Exploders, here you are Filthy Jim…we've been already sent to hell, now it's up to you!

Hi Seth, we're glad to have Filthy Jim you here on The Rock Explosion and we would like to ask you something about your band: how and when did you meet and decided to form it? And above all, can you reveal us why you choose such a porn monicker? It's kind of freaky…
I, Seth (but we are all here after practice) started the band in late 97. We have been through many line up changes. In fact our new bass player, Cooper, is our tenth member. The name came from some punk rocker our old drummer knew from NYC. As far as a porn moniker, Troy, our old bass player, made it up. So far plenty of people have believed it. It really doesn't stand for a used condom. We just made that up to see how many suckers would use the term. You are about number 200. From the bio page on our web site is where you got that I'm sure.
Keep in mind we are drunk and stoned at the moment. Works for us. Practice was fun. Our first since our SXSW tour.

Can you tell our readers something about your former experiences as musicians before Filthy Jim?
Filthy Jim is God. That's all. That's it.

"Whiskey And Porn" is a very raw work and it reminds me The Stooges, Zeke and the early Motley Crue. Seth, which bands of the past did influence you since the beginning of your career?
All we like bands as Big Black, The Birthday Party, Mudhoney, Speedealer, Melvins, Zeke, Misfits, Jesus Lizard, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath (duh), yada yada blah…

How would you describe your sound to the ones who never had the chance to listen to it?
Rock and Roll for hicks. Look at the above bands and put them in a blender.

Can you tell us something about the two songs included in your split with Long Dong Silver released under Scarey Records?
The first, "Tied to the Needle" is about stupid faggot junkies. The second, "Teenage Witch" is about under age sex and this stupid bitch Cooper and Luke tag teamed.

How does the song-writing mode work in your band? Can you define it as a team cooperation or an individual composition? Who writes the lyrics and who takes care of the arrangements?
Team coop on the music and whoever sings writes the lyrics.

Where do you take the inspirations for the songs from?
Anger, drunkeness, underage girl, need for sex, and the afore mentioned rock bands.

Which is the song of the album you feel closer to? And why?
"Sleeper", because I wrote the whole song lying in bed without an instrument.

To which band of the past would you be honoured to be compared to? And which has been instead the oddest thing you read about it in the press?
Thin Lizzy/AC/DC/Motley Crue. Or any of the band above. We are skilling the second part. No answer. Sorry drunk now.

Is there any band today that you particularly admire for some reasons? Besides, is there a band you would like to cooperate or share the stage with?
The Melvins. Why? Because they kick ass and have kept truckin' since 1983 or 84. Two decades. We would like to cooperate or play with lots of bands, like all the above mentioned for example.

Considering your personal experience as a band, has it been easy for you to find a label ? Would you like to tell us your opinion about indies and in your specific case, how's been your experience with these two Italian labels, Scarey and Nicotine Records?
It's not easy finding the right label. So far we really like Scarey and Nicotine.

What is your opinion about the rock scene in your Country?
Poor to suck.

I know you own a rock'n'roll hosting: would you like to tell us something about it and can you explain which are the main features of your hosting society?
I like it. It's nice to make money from the music I support. Any band reading this could need a web site. So they could contact me at www.rockandrollhosting.com.

If you hadn't yet decided to become a musician what would have you done instead?
We all would have been Theatre Majors.

Can you tell us something weird or particularly memorable about some gigs you did?
Well, Steve fucked this fat ugly girl who asked him to come on her tits, so he was obliged and she proceeded to wipe his jizz on Troy's sleeping bag, and then Steve vomited all over. Then I hit two parked cars on the way to the place we were staying.

We like Sylvia Saint, Jenna Jameson, Asia Carrera, Sunset Thomas, Briana Banks, Gauge and Suicide Girls. Albums... PBR (Past Blue Ribbon, feel the muscle), Whiskey and water.
